Official Tour Guide

With 22 years of teaching experience, I have passionately refined my skills in language education while nurturing the development of countless individuals. My career path has traversed diverse industries, encompassing a rich tapestry of pedagogical challenges and opportunities.

I have played a role in shaping minds and cultivating foreign language proficiency in English and Indonesian within a wide spectrum of learning environments. This invaluable experience includes conducting corporate training programs for over 30 national and international companies as well as government bodies, where I honed my expertise and crafted innovative teaching methods.

Starting my teaching career at an orphanage, I have progressed to instructing English at University of Indonesia, LP3I College, and Esa Unggul University.

Similarly, my career in Indonesian teaching has extended to renowned tertiary education institutions like Yale University and University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I had the honor of serving as a Fulbright fellow.

My entrepreneurial spirit drove me to establish PT Travelinguist Indonesia Global, an enterprise dedicated to empowering individuals in their journey to master Indonesian and English. Travelinguist, a portmanteau of traveling and linguist, embodies both my personal and professional identity, representing my unwavering passion for exploring languages.

On a personal note, my wanderlust has taken me to 25 countries since 2007, including two remarkable solo road trips covering over 40 states and provinces across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. During these journeys, I observed various dialects, sparking my curiosity to push the boundaries of human languages, exploring vernacular variations, as well as the subtleties of grammar and phonology. In Australia, I compared accents in rural Victoria with those in metropolitan Melbourne. It's through my linguistic odyssey I've seen that languages recognize no national boundaries, either in border provinces like Siam Nakhon (Asia) or in border cities like Komarno (Europe).

I have produced 9 research papers within the areas of language teaching, sociolinguistics, translation, and lexicogrammar. The 10th paper is in progress.

I am an ardent enthusiast of languages and all aspects of contrastive linguistics. Beyond learning 13 languages on Duolingo, I am a self-taught learner of American Sign Language, Javanese, and Thai.

I graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Humanities in applied linguistics and a Bachelor of Education in language teaching. I have served duties overseas assigned by the Indonesian Ministry of Education as a National Language Ambassador.
